Civil registration
Birth registration
Registering a child born in South Korea to a Kenyan parent, so their citizenship is documented.
Not yet verified. Treat this as a starting point rather than the final word.
Rules change without notice. Always confirm with the Embassy of Kenya in Seoul or Korean immigration before you travel or pay a fee.
What to bring
Originals plus one photocopy of each, unless noted otherwise.
How it goes
- Register the birth with the Korean authorities first — the embassy works from that record.
- Get the certificate translated and apostilled.
- Submit to the embassy's consular section.
- Apply for the child's Kenyan passport once registration is confirmed.
Do this early. Leaving it until you need to travel is the single most common way this becomes difficult.
